Feeling Low? Use 3 Mindset Shifts To Generate More Positive Energy
How is your week going? How do you feel about your energy level? Are you enthusiastic or feeling low? Happy or frazzled? In this post, I’ll introduce 3 mindset shifts that can instantly elevate your energy.
I invite you to step into this moment right now and let go. Let go of the past events, the past week, and the things that upset you or demotivated you. Make peace and look forward to the coming days.
Develop a little optimism – for this moment right now.
It’s so vital to cultivate a mindset that recognizes when you are feeling low, and that gives you the control to step out of that mood.
Here are 3 hacks to shift your mindset from feeling low to more positive:
1. Creating real connections
We have become so separate from others, the moment, life… we don’t notice that we lost connection – which really drains our energy. Training our brains to let the ego win by scrolling on social media makes us more and more judgemental. In our real lives, we then don’t even notice how much we judge and how little we truly connect with others.
When every swipe triggers a decision – a comment, a like, a scroll – judgment and comparison become a shadow. And we do this hundreds and thousands of times a day. That then becomes the energy we feel. We become more impatient, lack attention, lose connection and judge ourselves and others constantly.
What now? We have to now become more attentive to this deterioration of mental energy and switch up our mindsets towards consciously generating more joy and happiness – for ourselves and those around us, on a daily basis.
To be clear: Social media per se is not the problem. It’s how we use it that impacts us in a positive, uplifting way or in a negative, energy-draining way. If you follow inspiring people and motivation, educational and empowering content – or even cats doing funny stuff – then that’ll give a sense of joy, belonging, and community and will maybe even make you feel understood and supported. Still, generating joy and happiness is our job, our duty. We have to consciously generate it instead of hoping for others to fill a void.
2. Practicing mindfulness
The simple act of stepping into the moment is so powerful. Look at the house you’re in, the person you’re with, notice the blessing of your moment. Even if bad things happen – make a choice to step into a positive moment, appreciate. Make space for a different energy by shifting your mindset into this moment.
Positive energy is a choice. It’s a mindset. It’s the habit of stepping out of feelings of doubt, frustration, feeling like quitting, judging and being impatient. If you want to train your brain you have to put in the conscious growth work to learn how to do it. Read the books, take the courses, put in the work.
Learn and teach yourself to have more consistent and frequent moments of energetic choice each day.
Think of it like a daily energy bubble. Yes, life still happens – outside of the bubble. But you need to learn to step away from it. Take a walk, meditate, close your eyes, connect with that energy, see the beauty around, hear the birds. Pro-actively sense and feel life again. That’s how you can generate that positive energy that will elevate your life.
3. Cut yourself some slack
Of course you can’t be on top of all this 24/7. If you’re anything like me you won’t even manage to pay such conscious attention every day. And honestly, the bad days are needed to gain this kind of perspective. To remember to be thankful for your life, your family, your partner. See your mindset shift towards noticing the little things again. Appreciating them and yourself.
Taking control of your thoughts. Sharpen your awareness. Create little moments of energy.
You might now think, whatever, I know about gratitude. But, don’t fall into the trap of quick judgement again. Don’t become sarcastic. It’s not enough to know it, you need to practice it.
Try again. Please try again to be positive.
You know what will happen? Life will happen. Things will go wrong, someone will be mean or condescending. Your mindset won’t always shift for the better. And that’s expected and normal. Life will always happen and be there, but you need to consciously practice to step into the more positive emotions. The more you train the more it’ll become a part of you.
A simple journaling prompt to help you gear into action: How can I teach myself to step into positive emotions and energy more consistently every day? What could be some simple reminders and practices?
Notice your energy, build it up consciously. You get to choose to do this rewiring that’ll bring you joy. It’s your opportunity to try again and elevate your life to the next level.
